I get migraines but the type of migraines I get don't last very long and I just get the Aura. The occur every few months and sometimes every few weeks and I went to my GP who dismissed me and said nobody will investigate these because they're not serious. I am on the holiday and before I I'm on the holiday and before I flew I had a migraine which didn't last very long out all and then now six days into the holiday I developed another one. I would like to know what causes these but I can't find out because my own GP will not send me for investigation any ideas

I've lived with them all my life - triggers for me seem to be low blood sugar, stress, dehydration, hormonal triggers, being too sedentary, not sleeping between the hours of 10pm - 2am I.e. not having refreshing sleep, neck tension, caffeine.

I have a full body deep tissue massage every 3-6 months which I do think helps. Eat regularly, snack on fruit which has high water content and electrolytes. Avoid caffeine and booze in the week before and during my period.

I don't have periods anymore and I never got migraines until I stopped having periods

I think mine are caused by hormone changes and sometimes happen when it’s hot. Like yours they are annoying. GP put me on beta blockers to help reduce their frequency.

I get migraines, both classical migraines and migraines with aura. Classical since puberty and aura ones started in my early 20’s. I’ve had auras with no migraine pain after. I’ve had multiple auras in a 24 hr period (record was 3 in 6hrs). Point being that weird things can happen if you get migraines.

I would be pushing for a referral to a neurologist just to make sure that everything is ok. It’s unusual to start having migraines after menopause and considering they are changing in frequency it’s best to be cautious. The frequency at which you’re getting auras would be enough for a GP to refer.

I have spoken to GP at my surgery and was told that because my migraines are very short lived then I cannot get referred because they only refer people who have the type of migraines that last for two or three days and that the person experiencing the migraine has very very severe headaches and cannot look at bright lights and because I am not experiencing these types of migraines I was told that a migraine clinic would not want to see me because all I get is a flashing light and 10 minutes later it's gone so they would sink it's a waste of time. If the GP will not refer me then I will just have to accept it because I cannot force the GP to refer me if they don't think it would do any good. About a year ago I had a migraine that lasted for about four hours and ended up at my local hospital A and E because I didn't know how long the migraine was going to last. So I waited in A&D and by the time I finally got to see a doctor she was extremely rude handset to me why did you come here what did you think I could do to help you. I replied I've had a migraine for four hours and I was very concerned and because I told her that I had no headache and all I got was the flashing lights she told me to go to the optician and she told me it's not something that's a doctor can help me with and it's a matter for the optician because it's to do with the eyes

When I was a teenager I had blackouts and they lasted for quite a few years until they eventually stopped and I haven't had a blackout for 40 years and they thought at the time I had epilepsy but all the tests came back negative and I eventually grew out of it some hoping that I will eventually grow out of these migraines

Some GPS are better than others and I have a personal friend who is a GP who told me that in her opinion I should be referred and if I was her patient she would refer me
