It’s freezing

I’m freezing. I’m always really cold, and wondering if anyone else can relate?

I’ve got two jumpers on, a fluffy blanket and my wool socks. Last night I had my PJs on, my duvet (same thick one all year round) a fluffy blanket and a big wool blanket on the too of that. Admittedly it’s better now in the summer because I’m not quite as freezing as I usually am, I often get home from work in the winter/spring really chilled to the bone, can’t stop shaking, just cannot warm up, and the only thing that helps is a bath so hot it marks my skin red and makes me feel dizzy. I can’t wear lots of extra layers at work or sit under a blanket due to being customer facing.

I do usually have a couple of months of respite in the summer which I really look forward to, like my muscles can actually rest rather than constantly clenching through cold at those times, but my respite this year is yet to arrive. I can’t figure out if it just hasn’t warmed up yet or my constant cold problem is getting worse. The only time I actually feel warm is when I’m exercising properly, like in the second half of a long run.

I saw a long conversation online earlier about people changing their duvets for sheets and I just can’t imagine doing that in any weather. But maybe they are in different parts of the country/differently built houses/menopausal?

I can’t decide if I have some kind of medical problem or if everyone else does!

I’m not very slim no, a size 10 or so and bmi about 23 so a bit above average probably. I could stand to lose a bit but I don’t care enough and it would probably make me colder.

I’m still cold. Weather app says it’s 18 degrees. Wouldn’t most people be cold at 18 degrees? I’m not super bundled up today but I’ve got my jeans and a jumper on.

It is often very cold at work in winter (7-15 indoors). I needed a half hour warm up under a blanket when I got in today. I take a daily multivitamin but I will get checked out for thyroid stuff.

Always cold, I always have been. I have a thick duvet on all year round. Heating on in the summer from time to time (as a compromise to other family members!). But....I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis when I was 22.

Ugh yeah I've got the same-not started meds yet tho. Do the meds not help in that regard? I was hoping they'd sort out that issue for me.

I have been diagnosed for over twenty years....still the same symptoms then as now.

@user1476613140 Damn, I really thought it was supposed to lessen the symptoms. Your TSH is low now?

It's borderline normal for years that's why I am on a geriatric dose of levothyroxine.

I work outside in the North of England and I’m cold most of the time. I wear heated socks in Winter and two pairs of socks all year round. I have an electric blanket on the bed all year round. I’m still wearing a jumper when most people are in T-shirts. I have been referred to rheumatology by my GP as my fingers swell in cold weather and I’ve other health issues which flare up in the cold.

The heated socks really help and I just wear as many layers as I need. I love this current heat (but still wore a sweater for some of today!).

I don't think most people are cold at 18° unless they are sitting doing nothing. My office starts to feel a bit cold if it drops below that (I have a digital thermometer on the wall) but once it gets to 21 I need the aircon on.

It's been 18 here today at the coast according to my phone, I've been walking most of the day and it has been full sun and pretty warm, people in sundresses, shorts and teeshirts and a few bikinis on the beach. Definitely no coats, jumpers etc.

I was permanently cold from puberty until I hit menopause and now my core temperature runs slightly above normal (ie same as DH who was always warm). Now my DD is permanently cold since her puberty despite running normal as a child. Did your core temperature change around puberty too?
