Creatine

Hey everyone.
Just wondering if anyone takes or uses Creatine? I read an article - genuine site - where it said Creatine helps with menopausal symptoms. I'm a little reticent as it's a gym lovers protein. But it apparently helps with brain fog, energy and all other things menopausal. Has anyone got any experiences or advice please? I'd appreciate any real opinions. Just bought some in powder form but not really happy to take it without some feedback first. Thank you 😊

I take it. I do go to the gym regularly though. I’m one of those people who never feels anything when I I take a supplement.

Be careful if you suffer with coldsores. It triggered an outbreak for me

How can you be sure that was the creatine and not coincidence?

birdsnestinghere · 06/12/2025 20:09

I have some in the cupboard to try. I haven't yet, but have found taking B supplements helpful. I got the German creatine.

LunaTheCat · 06/12/2025 20:15

I have just started taking it along with protein shakes. .. I think have to uses consistently for several months.

Yes don't start with the dose straight away if you're like me (dodgy tummy). I've been on one little scoop so far each day for the last couple of weeks and my exceptionally sensitive digestive system is fine atm

I have some German creatine in the cupboard. I want to use it but am concerned it can alter blood test results. I want to do blood tests in a few weeks, so am holding off. Anyone got any experience with that?

Thanks, didn't know that. I don't get cold sores but have other health issues to consider.

Apparently its the argine or something.
Not good for kidney disease sufferers.
Worked wonders for bad back

@birdsnestinghereI’ve been taking it for a couple of years religiously, and also have to get monthly bloods due to being on a certain medication, and my bloods are fine

Thanks for sharing your experience. I thought it might affect the eGFR, since they measure creatine, so good to know it doesn't.

dynamiccactus · 09/12/2025 17:25

I've added it to porridge and not noticed the taste or texture, it just blends in.

Might try it again but in very small doses.

Creatinine is measured not creatine.

It will be raised if you take creatine but all you have to do is tell your GP you’re supplementing.

Yes, you're right, I just checked that on the form. I've never looked that closely as the number I'm interested in is the eGFR, so that's the only one I look at.

I've been taking tablets, primarily for muscle recovery.

Is there a reason people prefer the powders?

I used to take gummies but read an article which said that almost all of the research is done on powders not gummies - and that actually there’s not much proof that your body actually absorbs muc from the gummies at all so I switched to powder so at least there’s a chance it might work?!
