Bulging disc-back spasms

So I have 3 bulging discs and a synovial cyst, been seeing osteopath and physio. I've been getting some mild back spasms which at 4am this morning was absolutely crippling me, I couldn't stand, sit or lay down, I was screaming. After paracetamol and a super hot wheat bag it eventually settled. Anyone else had this currently waiting for 111 to call me back because the mild spasms have started. I'm limited with pain meds as I suffer constipation all the time, but also can't take nurofen because of acid and hiatus hernia. How long do the spasms last I'm already worried about going to bed because the last two mornings the pain has woke me up,I just dont want to feel what I felt this morning ever again it was hell and frightning. Wondering if diazepam will help, but not sure if I can mix that with mirtazapine. Please tell me the spasms get better. Any advice welcome. I've been laying down today but getting up regularly to walk laps of the garden. I just dont know what to do with my self.

Muscle relaxants will help - I have baclofen but diazapam is also prescribed for that purpose but sorry I don't know if diazapam goes with your other medication.
When my back or leg gets into that state I take extra baclofen to calm it down. I also sleep on a heat pad on lowest setting ( know you should not ) as the only way to get some relief .
Hope you are soon better.

Thankyou for your response, I feel so alone with this. Still waiting for 111 to reply if I can take diazepam. How long do these states normally last for you? I know it's different for everyone. Just feel so desperate.hope I can take them and also get some relief.

If I take enough baclofen to conk me out ( but safely as I have taken it for years ) then a bad bout lasts a few days rather than weeks if I ignore it.

I am also on morphine type patches and take prescription codeine / zapain but the doctor gives me a repeat prescription for Lactulose for constipation. It is horrible to take but it means I can have pain relief

You are right to keep getting up and moving. I also find an ice pack of assistance and doing a cat stretch (I think they are called this ) helps when I am out of the spasm stage .

I have a bulging disc just one is very painful so I am horrified you have 3 of them. I bought an electric cushion and the heat brings me some relief. I got prescribed codeine phosphate but I think it can become addictive over time. A hot shower and a heat pad is best. Also I got some Volterol gel and rubbed straight into the bulging disc area. It's hard to sleep I know but I try to sleep ony back with it.

I hear some people don't have any pain with bulging discs, this started in September for me but the pain is just getting more and more wide spread. The spasms are just awful, twisting me up. I'm looking online for an electric heater belt, the hotter the better. Everything harder when you can't sleep properly.i hope your on the mend very soon.

I have diazepam for back spasms.
it works well for me as the spasms are debilitating.
hope it soon passes for you as it’s miserable 🙁
