Ladies, desperately need some advice!

After having my DD nearly 5 years ago I was left with annul fissure (treated as piles by GP for over a year and only after I lost over a stone in weight and was bleeding enormously they referred me to the hospital where diagnosed me with anal fissure). Since then I was on different creams and ended with Glyceryl trinitrate ointment which I had to use daily and which does give you terrible headaches).

When I was pregnant with my DS the pain eased off, I couldn't believe my luck. Doctor's advice was that the blood flow increases during pregnancy and therefore there is no muscle tendency. Now 3 weeks after having my baby and my problems are back. I am in agony and have to look after my daughter and wee baby. Feel like I can't handle pain any more. The only permanent solution seems to be operation and for some reason they do not advise it for young ladies. Though had a look on the internet and it says that In the past, this operation could leave you less able to control wind, but a new type of operation (tailored sphincterotomy) does not have this drawback.

Anyone any advice please?

Thanks a million

Try to avoid surgery at all costs. Even with newer techniques, there is still a significant risk of faecal incontinence.

Ask for a referral to see a colorectal surgeon to discuss it and ask about their complication rates for surgery.
