Are dentists allowed to accept card and token gift?

Does any one know if dentists are allowed to accept card and token gift as a thank you.
I have had work done on my teeth fillings, root canals, a implant etc...
I would like to send a card and token gift. Would that be okay?

No. The dental police with bring about a prosecution for impropriety and the dentist will definitely be struck off at best.

Yes. My dental practice displays the cards behind the main desk. I've left a card and a box of nice biscuits once. Not great for teeth I know!

They likely have a policy about cash/vouchers, but 1 place I worked (not dentistry but healthcare) I think the limit was if the gift was valued at less than £10 or £20, it as ok. Anything more, we'd have to notify a manager or not accept it.

I expect a card for the practice is fine or even a shared fruit box or something but not a personal gift.

A lot of places have a policy where you have to declare some gifts to management, especially cash ones/gift cards. Practices always love biscuits or chocolates or you could do a small hamper with chocs, tea and coffee in.

I've never heard of people giving thank you gifts and cards to dentists before!

Surely they are doing their job and they should be doing it well. Otherwise they would , quite rightly, the subject of complaints.

Why isn't a verbal thank you at the end of treatment sufficient?

Personal gifts are well received.
A verbal thank you at the end of the appointment is sufficient but, like the OPs intentions, a gift shows appreciation.

I bought mine jasmine tea … fancy stuff. Because he likes it and he’s really gentle 💕

Cards are fine. The kind of gifts that can be shared with the whole practice are best eg sweets, biscuits, basket of fruit
