Twinge in cheek after dental extraction

I had the roots of three teeth that had broken of at thr gumline on one side removed on Monday. The pain hasn’t been too bad just aches a bit every now and again but I was in bed and suddenly I got a sharp twinge/shock in my cheek I mean it only lasted a second but I am terrified it’s the start of Trigeminal Neuralgia.

I literally can’t sleep for worrying about it.

I’m having restorative dentistry. Extractions are rough I’m surprised they did 3 all in one go. Twinges are normal. But you shouldn’t still be in pain/aching a week on. Sounds to me like you may have dry socket or an infection, especially if they didn’t sew up the wound afterwards. I would go back and have it looked over. You may need antibiotics.

I had a back molar extraction on Friday 3 days ago which was rather traumatic my pain is very much still there with a fair bit of swelling (I have work today!) and it just woke me up. It’s very normal for the pain to be at it’s worse on day 2-3 especially at night and can easily last a week. My dentist said to call them if I was worried so I guess that’s my advice to you.

I am not in constant pain I just get twinges sometimes in my cheek or in the extraction hole. I just wasn’t sure if this is normal after a week.

I really don’t think it’s dry socket as it’s not painful enough I don’t think.

Pain on day 2-3 is normal but it should have significantly improved or gone after a week.

Dry socket and infections aren’t always screamingly
painful but can get worse if left untreated. Based on experience and the fact it’s twinging after a week, I’d get the dentist to have a look at it.
