Has anyone tried this for heavy periods and it be successful? I’m guessing heavy periods if the cause of my low iron.

also has anyone managed to find it in little plastic capsules? Rather than the big powdery tablets 🤢

I've had it the past 2 months. I was literally pouring with blood, got through 3 towels in an hour, and the GP said if it didn't work I had to go to A+E. I only needed 1 tablet each time and the first time it worked in an hour and the second time it cleared it up within 3-4 hours.
They're not huge powdery tablets that I've been given though, mine are smaller than paracetamol caplets. I haven't got capsules but they're fairly easy to swallow so they must vary by brand maybe? I got my prescription at a Boots pharmacy if that helps you find some swallowable ones.

I found it helped slow the flow down, but also caused clots. I needed to take mine for the first 4 days of my period, I was taking 3 tablets a day. I took the ones that were the size of a paracetamol.

It didn’t help me at all. I was only saved by the mirena coil & sage tablets.

OhWifey · 08/06/2025 19:40

Yes it worked but came with headaches which I felt were an unsustainable compromise. Mirena has been life changing. Iron is normal and bleeding is little to none

I have had the coil before, the bleeding was lighter but it was more prolonged too!

so fed up of periods

Didn't work at all for me and I needed norethisterone.
