She's 14 and when she is having a period, she uses super plus tampax and has to change it after every lesson. Sometimes they still leak.

I have suggested that she mention it to a teacher who could perhaps give her a pass so if she needs to leave a lesson she will be allowed (but I don't think she'll have the nerve to actually do this)

I've always had ridiculously light periods so really have no personal experience to share with her, so any advice will be gratefully received.

Do I need to think about sending her to a doc? would the pill help? anything more efficient than tampax super plus?

anything at all would be useful,

thanks.

Transexamic acid helps a bit and she could try using a babies disposable nappy at night. (I have to use them during the day with super plus tampon but they are more robust than night time pads and do not leak)
You can wear them in your pants just like a pad then fold the 'wings' underneath.
Your daughter has my every sympathy.

Mefenamic acid is what my best friend uses for incredibly heavy periods and it's changed her life no end. Not sure if it is available OTC or on prescription.

Norethisterone is progestogens which is similar to progesterone. The pill made me gain stacks of weight as did the mirena coil. I think you have to sit down and look at the pros of the treatments and the cons of the heavy periods.
I would make her an appointment with a female GP soon though so she can start the treatment before her next period.
