I was diagnosed with asthma at the age of 4 after a severe attack and a stay in hospital. I had ongoing symptoms and needed the odd trip to A&E, courses of steroids once a year or so and often had exacerbations when I had a cold or during cold weather.
In my late 20s I had a couple of hospital admissions when I was really quite unwell with my asthma. After the second admission I was prescribed Seretide and took it regularly for a number of years. Since starting on Seretide I've had no asthma symptoms whatsoever. I was "downgraded" to fluticasone a few years later and now I don't take anything. I always make sure I have a salbutamol inhaler just in case but it's been about 18 years now since I've even wheezed.
Has anyone else experienced this? I feel very lucky but I also don't want to assume that it will never come back.
