Positive Gall Bladder Removal Stories

Hi all

Just wondering if anyone has any positive stories of having their gall bladder out? Ask I can find online is people complaining of constant diarrhoea for years after the surgery.

I am aware this can be a side effect - but it must go well sometimes?

I'm 37 and mum to a beautiful 6 month old. I started having attacks 4 months ago, have ended up in a and e a couple of times and had gall stones diagnosed last week and offered to have gall bladder out in next couple of months. I did labour with no analgesia, but just can't cope with the gall stone pain and can't breast feed or parent when it happens, but don't want to have diarrhoea so bad I also can't parent.

Just any positive stories would be amazing.

I've just had my gallbladder removed Tuesday what things did you eat I've ate small portions of apples and bananas and had Weetabix that's it and just drank water. I worried to eat just incase it effects me

I ate an egg mayo butty and a snickers bar while still in the recovery room.

After 3 years of a 100% fat free diet it was bliss and the best food I've ever eaten.

@Allison424 hope you're well.

I'm back to eating pretty much everything now. I found oats went down really well in the weeks afterwards - apparently they absorb well so are good for the excess bile whilst your stomach adjusts. So porridge, flapjack etc.

I ate dried fruit, pasta and lots of veggies. I also really like rice cakes. I can now eat dairy which I haven't been able to for years!!

Did you get a bad stomach after every think you eat. I had a bit more food today weebix 2 strawberry and a chicken breast small potion. Did you feel emotional also

@Allison424 if I ate too much for a couple of weeks I got a bit bloated, but that has settled now. I now mostly only get any issues if I don't eat for a really long time - and that's because bile is constantly dripping into your stomach so if you don't eat for a while nothing mops itvup.

Yes I was emotional - apparently it's quite normal after surgery. It settled after a couple of weeks. I honestly feel really good now!

I had to stop eating after say half way through my dinner as I got low tummy pain. I’m now 7 weeks since Operation and I’m still having small, frequent meals and I saw Consultant for a follow up and asked if I should avoid any foods and he said no. Yes, you can become emotional, I think it’s normal just knowing that the operation is over. Despite what people say, it was a bigger deal for me as I’d never had an operation before so didn’t know what to expect.
