GP says mole looks fine, thinking about getting it removed anyway

I have a mole on the side of my nose. I can't really see it because of where it is. I've had a couple of people recently ask me if I have scratched my nose because they think it's a scab. Comparing photos of me from now and 6 months ago it has definitely grown so I made a GP appt and she thinks it looks fine. She's said if I am concerned I can see another GP at the surgery who specialises in minor surgery who can remove it and send it for assessment. But after another comment about it today I'm thinking I should get it removed and checked. WWYD? Has anyone had this done?

If you’re not happy, and it’s changed, get it removed and checked for pathology

See the other GP as soon as possible as it sounds to me like a concern and should be removed.

Yes get another opinion. My mum had a high definition photo taken of a growth on her face and it was determined to be a harmless wart (I have a thread about it) now a few months later it's looking pretty likely to be cancer. They got the original diagnosis wrong because the type of wart they thought it was never turns into cancer. It must've been precancerous cells instead-which could've been treated simply before it ever turned into cancer. Now she needs surgery to remove it.

Based on our experience I'd say push for a biopsy/removal. Of course, most skin cancers happen in the elderly and depending on your age it's probably unlikely. Have you had a lot of sun exposure? Something that keeps scabbing up should definitely be checked properly just to be sure. Hopefully it's nothing and the doctor is right but always best to double check with these things.

See the other GP and have it removed and sent to pathology. I had a sarcoma on the side of my nose that the GP initially thought was cystic acne. GPs are generalists they aren’t experts in dermatology.

Have it removed. My husband had something similar. The GP thought that it was fine. A year later, it kept breaking open and scabbing over and it had to be removed in the local hospital.
