Child with several verrucas

WarriorN · 01/06/2025 06:16

Ds has 4 verrucas all on one toe, beneath.

was thinking of showing pharmacist - I’ve had verrucas but mixed experience with treatments. Also on some where it’s easier to treat. this is quite a tricky area and not sure best course of action

just wondering if anyone has any experience

See a podiatrist. The podiatrist can freeze them off. Sounds like they’ve been there for a while if there are now 4, so becoming more embedded.

Ah ok, thanks. It didn’t even occur to me.

Eventually, the immune system kicks in and sees them off but it can take a while.

My daughter had loads on one foot (I blamed swimming four times a week) and we tried EVERYTHING. There's not a method we didn't try. But one day they just cleared up, literally overnight, and she never got another again. That was 10 years ago. I think it was about 12 months before they went.

Mine usually clear up after a year. He’s complaining that his toe is sore in his shoe from time to time.

Yes my dd had about 10 at one point, I treated them for a while and then gave up and they just went away eventually.

we showed a dr on a visit about something else and were basically told they don’t treat them as much as they did in the 80’s and just leave them to sort delves. Unless there is pain just keep putting the ointment on

Following with interest as my DD has about 5 on one toe, plus a few others dotted around. Been there since February and not responding to treatment. Unfortunately she is complaining they are uncomfortable so I’ve got her a podiatry appointment for week after next - when I called up they said they can’t use the same treatment as they would on an adult but they do have something that will kill the virus. I’ll report back…

WarriorN · 01/06/2025 09:18

Ah ok thanks @WestrayWife, your poor DD, that does sound painful.

he’s not complaining all the time so maybe I’ll leave them for the time being

He’s now got another one on the other foot that’s swollen and itchy, will go to pharmacist after school I think and take it from there. NHS is also saying GPs can also treat.
