Hematoma question

Hi,

I have a Hematoma on the front ball of my foot.

I was told yesterday when at A&E (for another query) I could do some short walks as it was best to try and keep active and left there with less bandage which kind of pleased me, along with no requirement for blood thinners as advised to keep active. Before the GP said to go near a hospital for bloods to have DVT/blood clot ruled out, the district nurse who attended earlier yesterday started saying they felt I needed to get back on antibiotics, get blood thinners back and today the GP has issued a prescription for this to the home prescription delivery service I have in place.

Each time they’ve (DN) come to redress the wound/ more specifically the Hematoma site it has always bleed through and I’m afraid after the short walk this evening it has become apparent just a little, the Hematoma wound is weeping again, can I ask is this a good sign? Like it is lifting the black part of the wound? (my understanding once it lifts it will then become apparent if plastics is needed or I just live with maybe a small disfigurement)

Or is it every time I’m walking I’m just doing myself a disservice?

Sorry, I'm confused by your post and not sure what your question is?

What was the initial injury to your foot?

I thought a haematoma is bruising under the skin from a bump/trauma of some sort- not an open, weeping, bleeding wound with black skin! Black skin normally means its dead! Are you diabetic? Is the GP putting you on antibiotics for the bleeding foot or some other reason?

Ah thanks, sorry I’m not making sense these medics are driving me round the bend!

Heck knows about the original problem was; so many theories. District nurses reckon I’ve been really unlucky and had a whole host of different infections at same time.

Yeah thought the black may mean dead. That was as a result of surgery when they must have opened/gain access to the ball of fluid/puss they had to remove by emergency theatre. No time to get a second opinion. After surgery my first thought was I’d been butchered in all honesty then as I think I’m turning a corner I get knocked down. I’m sorry to offend if I’d known what was going to happen I’d have said take the foot away.

I don’t think I can get the pictures uploaded as picture taking become an ordeal in hospital when my family where trying to take updates to show future professionals the timeline.

Diabetes up in air. Blood finger prick readings come down when I’ve gotten back on Wegovy but resistance from medics to check HbA1C.

How long can / does this go on for if we get to a point of amputation?

I got in touch with day one trauma at a Bolton nhs trust but sadly they haven’t quite reached the Essex hospital (in their mission to become nationwide) I’m under.

I’m using Nytol to get through the night without waking early hours at a price I cannot take usual medication of amatriptyline. It’s a mess.

I’ve written to PALS asking if I do get a follow up appointment now I’m a fortnight after discharge, pointing out the discharge paperwork very contradictory.

It occurs to me when they took me to theatre surely they could have sent whatever was in the abnormal alien type ball of fluid for testing? or would it have just got mixed up with blood where they cut into draw it out.

Anyway I got the opportunity to speak with an amputee following infection and then dealt a cruel blow, in my line of work since posting and far from finding it triggering, I think this may have inadvertently helped.
