Suspected melanoma

For around 18 months I've had what I believed to be a scab on my upper abdomen.
It was itchy and I accidentally knocked some of it off.
It is on top of an old incision scar (gallbladder removal 9 years ago) .
Anyway, the spot/scab reappeared about 12 months ago but darker in colour.
I am not a sunbed girl and I really don't like the sun at all, hence why I didn't take it seriously for so long.
I finally decided to get it checked 3 weeks ago and the GP took one look and sent off a rapid referral, informing me that he thought it looked like a melanoma.
Within 3 days I had a dermoscopy where they took photographs of the lesion and said that I would either be referred back to the GP, be given advice to check it regularly or i would be referred to a dermatologist or plastic surgeon.
4 days later I received a call asking me to make an appointment with a plastic surgeon.
The lady on the phone couldn't give me any information and my GP appears to know nothing at all about the results of the Dermoscopy.
I then received a message saying that I have been referred to the skin cancer clinic and that I'm still on the rapid referral pathway.
I still know absolutely nothing and the more I read, the more I'm panicking about my appointment.
I'm not seeing the plastic surgeon until the 3rd June and I'm driving myself crazy.
I feel like i need some positive vibes from people who have been on this same pathway and had a positive outcome.
(Apologies for my very pale abdomen pic)
To add: I'm based in the UK so this is an NHS referral.

Don’t panic. They can remove it and then will analyse it. I’ve had things removed and the thought is worth than the reality - local anesthteic and done

Don’t panic. Until it’s removed no one can say what it is- dh had a dodgy mole that even the plastic surgeon was sure would be a melanoma, so removed it with a massive margin. It was just a mole. They get on and get things with any suspicion removed so quickly, which is brilliant, but it does make it feel like they are super concerned when it’s just the system moving on nicely

Thank you for your replies.
I really appreciate the positive vibes.
Speaking to people close to me doesn't help because I'm usually the positive one who reassures everyone else.

@BysammyJShow did you get on with your mole removal? I have an appointment for the same next week - slightly terrified! 🫣
