I recenlty had a foot infection and was treated wiht a courwse of anitiobiotics. Unfortunately the infection was not cured and flared up again. I was then prescribed a massive dose of two tpyes of antibiotics ( the largest dose that can safely be prescribed apparantly) which I took faithfully for 2 days. By day 3 I was so out of it I contacted my GP who reduced the dose by half.

My symptoms were ( and still are) extreme dizziness to the point of imbalance wherfe I can't walk straight or drive properly, fatigue ( I am exahusted by walking downstairs and sleep most of th edy) an d achey limbs as well as on and off tempertaure although only to 37.5 no higher.

My GP has now switched the antibs but as my foot is so much beter I am a bit reluctant to take them as I still feel so rotten. I have been signed off work for the re=st of the week. MY GP seems to thnink that the reaction is farilyh common but I've taken antibs lots of times in myh life without such a reafcton.

Has anyone else had such a reactin or know what possibly may be going on here?

Look up your specific a/b side effects, but they can drastically affect immunity and even bone marrow cells that produce good immune cells. This could be called neutropenia?? not sure..
Personally, I would not take any more unless life-or-death. Try topical anything.. tea tree,

Lisa, you must follow your GPs advice, or at very least go back and discuss with them fully. A persistent infection can spread and cause you far far more problems than the side effects of the ABs. Your GP is confident these are known reactions to the ABs he/she's prescribed (should have warned you beforehand but thats another issue). If you don't complete a course of ABs the bug causing it can become resistant making it extremely difficult to treat. Follow the medical advice you've received especially now you've been prescribed an alternative.

Very irresponsible to suggest ignoring medical advice IMO

What antibiotics were you on? Augmentin can do this

lisa, huge leap from ab liver enzymes to cancer. medications (including strong abs) can sometimes affect liver function, treatment is usually just to stop meds, monitor and they normalise really quite quickly (the liver is an amazing organ )

you've googled haven't you naughty girl! googlings a dangerous business as you can make almost any symptoms fit any illness. avoid at all costs unless you have a specific diagnosis and need to find a support group etc

your gp will know how to manage this for you, if not he'll refer you on to someone who does
