First noticed Saturday, but she doesn't actually seem worried about it/in pain etc. so do I:

a) ignore it (and hope leg doesn't fall off)
b) take her to GP/chiropracter/witch doctor after 3/5/7/10days if not better
c) rush her to A&E now and demand they X-Ray it and put pins and rods in to stabilise the bone/joint thingy?

Worth getting checked out.

My dd2 has just been diagnosed with Perthes disease, a degenerative by self limiting and self healing (esp in younger kids) disease of the hip. It initially presents as a painless limp which then gives pain in the hip and the knee as it progresses.

We went straight to casualty (eventually) and it was all ok, you can go through your GP but it would be quicker to visit A&E - though my dh took her and he s GP so he knew all the right things to say ...

Worth gatting checked out I would say. there are a couple of us with Perthe's diagnosis on here if it turns out to be that. If it is feel free to CAT me about it. 2 is on the young side for diagnosis of this, but not unheard of.

Any news SMS?

bump for SMS

SlightlyMadSweet · 20/05/2008 20:40

Sorry I ahve been at work all day, late home followed by bath time & bed time.

Anyways.

I left it to DP to sort (big mistake) as I was at work and he was home with DD3. He left it too late to ring and get appointment in the 8am rush.

Having said that she seems to have been quite a bit better today. The power of asking on MN seems to have triggered sods law and she is much better than she was.

I shall be keeping a close eye though until it is properly better.

I did have another thought too. SHe had a fall at nursery the day before we saw her limping. The only thing that was reported as far as injuries was concerned wa a (quite significant) bump to teh back of the head. I don't know if she hurt her leg too.

Sounds good, if she is better walking on it now still keep a close eye on that foot though, better being safe than sorry and kids are hard as nails, my dd was legging it around when she had her cast on! lol.

I am pretty sure she will be running around soon, and if she had a accident at nursery maybe she has just twisted it, making it a little tender.

SlightlyMadSweet · 20/05/2008 23:06

Actually she hasn't stopped running. She is just doing it with a limp!!!

As I say it isn't bothering her in teh slightest.
