Please give me hope…piles!

I’ve been suffering for 10 days. External - possibly prolapsed? pain in bum (quite literally) got some scheriproct? from an online doc - 4 days in and no improvement. I’ve been bathing in salts, using wipes, drinking water, witch hazel, prep h and anosol hc! Also tried a suppository. It doesn’t looked thrombosed but it’s uncomfortable sitting/driving and at times I have dull ache inside . I do have a Gp appointment but not until Friday. Can anyone give me hope that this will eventually go down?? I am googling all sorts of horror surgical procedures 😞

I know very little but, I have read good things about castor oil. Could be worth a look?

I’m not much help but the scheriproct suppositories are the only thing that really help with mine and drinking a ton of water!

I found Germoloids much better than Anusol. If they’re not thrombosed there is a good chance they will go down, just try not to become constipated in future. Fibre with loads of water and you might find a stool softener (not laxative) helps, Movicol is ok stirred into juice or squash.

You have my sympathy! They will go down. I had a prolapsed thrombosed one a few years ago - worst case I’d experienced - and that sorted itself out. It took a few weeks though. You’re doing the right things. Easier said than done but spending as much time as possible resting and in a position where you’re not putting pressure on the area helps with recovery time.

This will sound odd but when I had that worst case I was advised to apply ice packs and found that helped with the pain. I had some of those ice cube bags you can get from the supermarkets (fill up with water and put in the freezer) and would cut a few ice cubes out, wrap the cubes (still inside plastic) in kitchen towel and put it on the area, I did that throughout the day. I was also given some Instillagel syringes, which I found the best topical pain relief.

I saw a GP several times for bad cases. Would usually prescribe Uniroid Hydrocortisone ointment but also Lactulose syrup, a stool softener (afaloren mentioned above), which I think you can buy from a pharmacy over the counter.

Thank you! One thing I haven’t been trying is ice so will get on to that today! You’ve given me a glimmer of hope !
