Myself and DH were talking this evening, we were saying pre kids we don't ever remember being sick, we were never at the doctor or on antibiotics.

We now have two small kids and we seem to catch everything they catch. I mean it has eased, but for example I've needed an antibiotic maybe once a year the last three years (I currently have a throat infection and feel like I have eaten a shard of glass - kids had it last week).

For those with slightly older kids - tell me it ends! I think in general I'm pretty healthy.

It eases off around eight years old. Then you get a break until you have teenagers spreading things around.

Get all of the vaccinations and boosters for you and the kids - especially flu.

I'd agree. I rarely caught bugs but did have IBS pre-kid, which I think has made me more susceptible. The nursery years were grim! I got everything and it felt amplified for me. I know parents who are barely affected though. I'd agree it gets better towards the end of primary. I don't think my immunity has ever really recovered though, I do wonder if it's a positive to have children young/in twenties just to have the immunity for the bugs they introduce. As an older parent, it's been a ride.
