Can any one recommend shoes /trainers to help with this? I’m really struggling with it in my left heel - any recommendations or any words of wisdom re self help will be greatly appreciated!

TIA

will losing weight help? i am very over weight but am trying to lose. the GP has told me due to my tablets that I will find it very hard which is a shame

Brooks Adrenline for me. If you go to a shop like Runner’s Needs they will get you to run in a treadmill and suggest something. That just for running shoes though.

The thing that always makes it worse for me is if I spend heaps of time on summer holidays walking either barefoot or in very flat sandals / flip flops.

The only shoes I can wear are fly wedges and sketchers arch support. It's horrible. When you're sitting at night run a tennis ball under your foot. It really helps. Hopefully it will go soon

Freeze a 500ml water bottle and roll the foot on it, which helps as well.

I had plantar fasciitis for nearly 2 years a while back. Lots of suggestions above eased but not cured.

The only thing that really worked was wearing compression ankle socks both night and day. Tightish fitting.

I also mostly wear Skechers trainers and sandals. Crocs in the house instead of slippers. Shoes like Converse are a no-no.

Oh and avoid flip flops and Birkenstocks (without ankle straps) like the plague. Any shoe that makes you tense your toes even slightly is not your friend.

Deep calf stretches, three times a day every day. Have a look at angryorthopod.com and check out his detailed instructions on calf stretches.
