DD2 has chicken pox will it be gone in a fortnight?

DD2 woke up this morning with the blisters, more have developed during the day. She is in high spirits with no discomfort. We have a holiday in Spain booked for a fortnights time, do you think she will be ok to fly by then?

Yes, and I am neurotic about chicken pox!

oliviaelanasmum · 18/05/2008 19:20

Thanks for replying so quickly im so worried that we wont be able to go, as all the children are so excited! DD1 shows no sign of getting it and dd3 has a rash but no blisters so i want them to either all get it at the same time or not at all!!

I'd have thought she'd be clear for sure in a fortnight, but that there'd be a good chance that your other dd might have it by then, sorry!

McDreamy · 18/05/2008 19:22

She will not longer be infectious 5 days from today. You might want to get a doctors letter though as she might be spotty still in 2 weeks time and the airline are within their rights to refuse to let her fly if you have nothing to say she is no longer infectious.

CrackerOfNuts · 18/05/2008 19:23

Hate to say it but Tassisssss is right, your other dd will probably have it by then.

When dd1 had it, it was 2 weeks later that dd2 came out in spots.

PortAndLemon · 18/05/2008 19:27

Yes, but your other DDs may have it by then (or, worse in some ways, may come down with it on holiday so that the airline won't let you fly back).

Or hopefully oliviaelanasmum will come back and tell us her DD1 has already had CP so their isn't an issue

McDreamy · 18/05/2008 19:29

there isn't an issue

I think dd3 will break out tomorrow as she has a pin prick rash on her body already, so now its just dd1 to worry about. Argh why does this always happen at the most inopportune times? Im 17 weeks pregnant too so its very inconvenient!

The incubation period for the pox is 10-14 days, btw.
I'm guessing you've had it, oliviaelansmum?

McDreamy · 18/05/2008 19:42

Oh bum I was hoping you were going to say the rest of the family have had it, so sorry what bad timing

McDreamy · 18/05/2008 19:44

Incubation is 10 - 21 days - it wouldn't be good if someone goes down with it on holiday

oliviaelanasmum · 18/05/2008 19:48

Bugger it, we have booked everything independently so will just have to wait and see what the next 2 weeks brings before we know if we can go or not, we wont get our money back but im more upset at the kids missing out. Luckilly me and dp have both had it.
