Hello i had my blood test done 20th Jan 25, and then my results came back and dr told txted me to say they have sent a vitamin d supplement to chemist, so picked them up they was called huxd3 20000iu, I take them once a week like prescribed, 2 weeks ago I requested for a blood test to check my vitamin d levels and the dr said no I can't have another one till June, altogether I have taken 13 huxd3 since January, once a week, but my joints are hurting my arms knees, I spoke to dr today and he told it won't be the vitamin d deficiency because I should be feeling better, I'm worried on taking the huxd3 for another month and half, what's anybody else's experiences and how long did it take you to feel better after being deficiency xx

You can keep taking it, I take the max dose of 4000IU every day
my level was 9 and now around 67, but it takes a while to get it up to a decent level

Mykidsmyworld83 · 23/04/2025 21:26

Omg that's amazing news that your levels have gone up, how long did it take you to get from 9 to 67, I will carry on taking them until I'm due my next blood, my anxiety just makes me overtime everything and where I'm getting joint pain I'm over panicking x

Bloody ages. At least a year, I did 2 high dose courses
I take the 4000IU as a daily maintenance dose

Mykidsmyworld83 · 23/04/2025 21:46

Oh wow a year, glad you managed to get your levels stable, I want these next 5 weeks to hurry up haha

I take 10k daily in Winter, will drop to 4k soon while the sun is out. I am not sure that a weekly dose is effective, I have heard this is how it is prescribed but feel a daily dose would be more effective.
I take other vits as well to balance the D3, K2 and Magnesium are recommended. Also make sure you take with a meal with some fat in it to aid absorption.

There are many previous threads with decent advice, be worth doing a trawl

You can buy vitamin d tests. Boots have got one you do at home for £7.99 or you can get ones you send off to get results. It looks like superdrug do that for about £20.

Yes see i don't know whether to go chemist and ask them what else I can take with them to try get my levels alot better, I've never heard of magnesium that would be better for me to take as well, thing is my dr never advised me not when to stop them or anything, just told me i had to have a repeat blood in June

Docs are mostly not good at this stuff, you would be better researching and taking control yourself. Our sun does not provide enough through the winter, so this will be something to take care of every year.

Mykidsmyworld83 · 23/04/2025 22:07

Yes I'm defo going in the sun this year haha, but yea I will do some research love and see what more I can do for myself as honestly it plays havoc on my anxiety

Everyone in the uk has a vitamin d deficiency in the winter unless they take a supplement because the sun is so weak in winter. So don’t worry about it. It’s very very common. To the extent my gp will not test or prescribe anything. So I buy vitamin D3. It’s the easiest form to be absorbed.

Mykidsmyworld83 · 23/04/2025 22:23

Thank you lovely appreciate the support, it seems alot suffer with vitamin d, see i never had symptoms its only because I came off the depo contraception and I was bleeding for 21 days so had my ferritin levels checked. But I've been taking huxd3 for 13 weeks now so I'm hoping it's made a little difference xx
