Why NHS trusts hav different low residue diets? (Colonoscopy)

Due for a colonoscopy next month after a gap of 3 years as found 10-13 polyps all over the bowel.

Even though its the same procedure across the NHS, the low residue diets vary from NHS trust to NHS trust.

I live in Leicestershire and its ZERO fruit and veg, bar potatoes without skins https://yourhealth.leicestershospitals.nhs.uk/library/chuggs/gastroenterology/endoscopy/1315-preparing-for-your-endoscopy-procedure-with-a-low-residue-fibre-diet/file

The first Google result I found on entering low residue diet NHS came up with the East Lancashire trust and you can have sieved tomatoes and very soft root veg with skin removed, stewed apples, tinned peaches and ripe bananas https://elht.nhs.uk/application/files/3315/8556/0327/DIET-002-LowFibrelowresiduediet-2019.pdf

This NHS trust allows smooth peanut butter https://www.wwl.nhs.uk/media/.leaflets/6000600a710299.42192255.pdf

It's crazy that they are different.

Mine said I could have clear boiled sweets, but not purple ones, and no other food at all!

The directions need to be accessible to the majority of their patients - which also means being easy to stick into Google Translate in some areas that are more diverse.

Complicated (relatively) descriptions of ways to prepare vegetables and fruit doesn't translate well compared to No Vegetables.

I'm having one soon also. I can live with a white diet for a few days as that's easy for me to have without thinking too much about it. It's only temporary and I'll survive eating food that I would normally run a mile from! The cakes sound good.....

But joking aside, yes there are differences, but I'd take the common denominators and eat them.

I ate frozen mash, white bread, white fish, white rice, white pasta and plain chicken for 2 days. I think I had plain pancakes as well. No other foods at all. It definitely worked, I was bloody starving when the whole thing was done.

I know its for two days, the food is bloody boring! I love colour in my food - ie F&V, herbs.

Need to get coco pops, white bread, eggs, mash potato, Quavers, yoghurt with no bits in.
