Earache and sinus pressure, no congestion

For the last couple of days I've had an on and off headache and sinus pressure on my right side which doesn't hurt but makes my face/gums feel a bit odd. Last night I woke up with an earache on the same side and it's been there on and off all day.

I had put the headache and sinus pressure down to hayfever. I seem to struggle with tree pollen which has been moderate to high the last couple of weeks so I've been taking antihistamines for that. Since taking them don't have congestion, sneezing or stinging eyes like I get normally get with hayfever but instead I'm having the previously mentioned issue of earache and sinus pressure.

Could the hayfever still be to blame? Could my sinuses be irritated thanks to it and be even causing the ear pain, despite no congestion? I do think it's allergies but I have health anxiety that makes me question myself even if there's a reasonable explanation. Hopefully it clears up before then but I'll call the Dr/see the pharmacist on Tuesday if it doesn't.

Yes it can - grab one of the nasal sprays in the chemist for hay fever. Should relieve it after a week or so. Hay fever always makes my sinuses all irritated.

This sounds similar to what I had last June. No cold or congestion but horrid sinus pain that got worse and worse over 4 weeks. My teeth hurt, and the pain in my face was all on one side, above and under my eye. Oh and my ears felt like they were under water, I lost my hearing on one side. Then the pain started going down into my collar bone. online GP said sinus and to take over counter steroid spray.

It got to the point where it felt like my brain was being squeezed and stabbed when I went to the loo or bent down. I had to keep lying down to get the pain to a tolerable level. So I went to the Drs who said it looked like ear infection and hayfever. They gave me antihistamines and told me to continue the over counter steroid spay.

As this was the 4th sinus issue I’d had, I got a referral via private medical. They diagnosed small ear tubes and said hayfever (and mild cat allergy) was the cause of the sinus pain. I was given a prescription steroid spray which I take as soon as I feel sinus pain, and I take antihistamines from end of March. Hopefully the means I won’t get the issue this year.

That sounds absolutely miserable @Lilyjfree I hope having that medication plan in place means you avoid it this year.

The earache only lasted for Saturday although I still had pressure on Sunday. I was essentially fine yesterday (it was raining) but today, on the school run, I could feel the same sinus pressure back again, teeth feeling sensitive - and a bit of a headache. That's pretty much confirmed it for me that it's hayfever. Going to grab a nasal spray and see if it makes a difference. I can't go four months of headaches, earaches, pressure in my face and achy teeth/jaw! No thanks!
