C section and ill household

Help me! Im in a panic. Im having c section on Thursday (24th). My three year old who I sleep in a bed with, share food with, constantly get kissed by etc etc, has woken up with a fever and just vomited.

I have emetophobia (🫠) but in panic mode about the timing. If I were to be ill with a fever or virus or whatever would my c section have to be delayed? Just wondering how it works. I know it’s still 6 days away but just hypothetically - thank you

I think it would be delayed, I can't see them doing a section if you have a vomiting bug or similar. Why don't you call your midwife or the hospital and just run it past them. There is a chance you won't get the bug, fingers crossed!

You're child may have been sick due to the feever and may not have a bug. If I have a high temp I always vomit.

it would depend on the reason for the section and what the implications might be of postponing to recover. Best bet is to be really careful in the meantime - no food sharing etc. If you become unwell yourself then let them know if advance so they can think about timing with you. If you don't get the bug, still let them know you've been in a house with someone with a GI bug so they can decide if you need to be isolated in hospital.

@clinellwipe hi, it's me (nogodsnomasters) I changed name. You must be sick of the sight of vomit this year. Did your son's other issues with constipation ever get resolved?

I would say if it's a standard c section and you were ill it would be postponed, but if it's a c section due to complications with the baby then they will weigh up the risks of doing it anyway vs postponing another few days or a week.

Oh hi @Realisation14and welcome back to my anxious threads 🤣 Hope you’re well xx

my son still has a fever but no more vomiting and is playing etc , we both have a cough so think the cough/fever spike made him sick.

I have woken up with full on conjunctivitis - like I have green PVA glue in my eye ! Have had to drive around trying to find a pharmacy that’s open whilst DH is with DS, quite enjoying the excuse to leave them to it! Happy Easter 🤪

@clinellwipe good god you're having an absolutely fucking rotten time of it these past few months.

It wasn’t a stomach bug but just a nasty cough virus that we both are still struggling with, he currently has a fever and not sleeping. Such bad timing to be sleep deprived before newborn even here 🫠 I wonder if it’s RSV because tonight his fever is back after a few days fever free and they say RSV is worse around day 5…

Well at least it's not a stomach bug but a nasty upper respiratory infection is not what you need before a c section either and as you say severe lack of sleep.
