Anyone know anything about foot pain - have seen GP

A couple of weeks ago my foot near my little toe/4th toe started hurting. I couldn't bear weight well and was limping about. I got a GP appt quickly, but it was an 'urgent' one on a Saturday (I did an e-consult on the Friday) at a random surgery that opens on weekends in my area
On examination the GP said it was probably a soft tissue or joint issue and I could just go about my regular business but not walk too far on it and he didn't advise any speical insoles or anything like that.
It did ease a bit and I stopped limping within a few days, but it still is pretty painful - a bit like if you sprain your ankle how it feels for a couple of weeks afterwards - but to my knowledge i didn't injure it at all.
It's defintiely worse when I've been walking on it but it also hurts at rest if I've been on my feet for a bit, although thankfully not at night so it's not keeping me up.
He said if it's not better within a couple of weeks to go back - which is end of this week - but would rather go to my regular surgery.
I've done some googling and think it could be some form of tendonitis. It's tender to the touch on the top of the foot although not mega painful when I prod it!
Is it just a matter of time until it heals or should I go back to the GP? I'll leave it until after the holiday weekend so I can rest it a bit more and see what happens.
I feel like I'm always at the GP for one thing or another, I should have a bloody season ticket. I know it's what they're there for but I'm sure they inwardly groan when they see my name on the computer!

These things usually take a long time to ease. Rest, ice, compression, maybe some painkillers and no, I wouldn’t bother the GP for a couple of months at least.

Could you see a physio? IME they are much better with tendons than GP’s are!

Agree with PP. I'd be seeing the physio or osteopath.

I have achilles tendinitis and have never seen the GP about it. I went to physio, then podiatrist and referred for an MRI that way (private). Then back to physio.
