How do I get a general all over health check?

I'm in my 60s and generally fit and well. I'd like to get a general all over health check so I can address any issues that may be lurking. How do I do this?

I don't have private health insurance but could afford to fund some tests. Anyone done this?

Here you go. They range from £229 to £1,119. I used to get these with work and they were pretty impressive (don't know what tier it was, though). They offer instalment plans.

Now I'm old with illnesses, I benefit from NHS check-ups. They're sort of piecemeal and the feedback's nowhere near as good, but they're incredibly thorough when they feel something needs a closer look.

If anything's bothering you, consult your GP. If you're perfectly well, consider whether you're indulging health anxiety. If you're prone to worrying, your checkup's likely to send you down a bunch of expensive rabbit holes.

Agree with the above. Had the Be Reassured one fairly recently through work and it's very thorough. The time with a GP is worth its weight in gold!

I had one yesterday with Bupa. It was extremely thorough. Mine was free through work but I have paid for my DH to have the same one and it was under £400.

Just ask your GP. Anyone in their 60’s can ask for a health check and get blood tests. A nurse usually does them. If they don’t do blood tests routinely say you are feeling more tired than usual and they will do a full panel (usually).

I'm really interested in this thread because I've heard of people being offered annual(?) General Health checks by their GP.
I'm in my early 70s and I've never been offered one.
I 'm in Scotland and I was under the impression these checks were not offered up here. Is this the case or am I missing out?
I tend to avoid my GP but I'd very much like a health check.

This isn’t entirely correct. I am a HCP who conducts the NHS healthchecks. These checks are for ages 40-74 without some pre existing conditions such as diabetes, CVD risks already identified as raised etc.
I believe some surgeries offer other healthchecks but it’s down to which ones the particular areas are funded for or are able to conduct.
