Noisy stomach

Over the last several months I've developed what can only be described as extremely noisy digestive sounds under my left ribs, so im assuming it's my stomach. It's much much worse in the early hours to the point where it actually wakes me up. It almost sounds like a creaky old gate !

Last year I had a gastroscopy for intense pain at the time but everything was clear. Biopsies were taken for coeliac which were negative. I've been treated for h pylori 4 times, the last test I had around 6 months ago was negative.

I been to my GP who examined me and isn't concerned based on tests last year, but this can't be normal. It's not normal for me. She suggested stress and anxiety is playing a part but I feel that's something we are always fobbed off with, which does cause me anxiety !

Has anyone had anything similar?

Have you tried having something to eat before you go to bed, as it sounds like your stomach is empty?

GP suggested this also. Sounds so simple and I felt foolish when she said it but previous advice given was not to eat around 3-4 hours before bed which I'd been doing 🤦🏼‍♀️ she agreed advice changes all the time which is frustrating.

Look up 'splenic flexure' - there's a sharp bend in the digestive system on the upper left, and some people's can get a bit spasmy - mine gets noisy when my gut's not moving as it should. No need to eat too late, but do make sure you get plenty of fibre!

And I find fizzy drinks are the worst - lots of plain water is good. Mine also kicks off if I have a bit of gastritis, so if that's a problem you could try an over-the-counter PPI like esomeprazole for a few weeks?

And yes, stress and anxiety can provoke it...
