Scar management

I have recently acquired a fairly significant scar on my face. Now that the wound has healed I'm looking for the best way to care for / minimise the scar. There's lots of conflicting advice online! I know massage is important, but not sure the best 'moisturiser' to use. Also not sure whether silicone sheets are the best option for a face, or if silicone cream is any good...etc!

Advice gratefully received!

Hi, I’m having quite good results with Eco Sonya Driver, Glory Oil. Recommended to me by someone who had success with it too. Hope this helps.

My son had a significant injury when young which resulted in large amounts of scarring. The advice we were given was any moisturising cream works, as the massage is most important. We used handfuls of the stuff for each creaming process and massaged in well.

Nowadays he uses diprobase or similar, I appreciate for the face you might prefer something less heavy but the massage part is the most important part, really work that cream in.

We had silicone built into pressure garments, that also worked well - have you had any advice from a specialist?

Don't forget sunscreen.

Thanks for that. Specialist gave advice on caring for the wound, but not on long-term care. Good to know that it doesn't matter too much what is used for the massage - might be a bit of trial and error finding a good product for the face.

Had surgery on my face for skin cancer & reconstruction. My plastic surgeon recommended silicone scar sheets to wear every night for 6 months. Worked really well. You can see the scar line but easily covered with make up
