Test Results - Should I ask for a second opinion?

I have had a recent round of bloods taken to try to get to the bottom of various symptoms. The Dr has sent a message to say I have low vitamin D and should supplement moving forward.

However, the results below have been reviewed as no action needed. Should I ask for a second opinion?

As you have the results I would just concentrate on boosting your levels yourself tbh. Drs regularly mark thing at the lower end as ‘normal’. They either have no clue or don’t give a shit how bad patients feel. Ask me how I know! 😞

your Ferritin needs boosting, and your folate could do with increasing too. Did they check your thyroid as well? B12 a little bit higher might make you feel better also. People can be symptomatic at the lower end of normal so being 300+ would make a difference.

Get a high strength iron bisglycinate, it has better bioavailability than ferrous fumerate and less gastrointestinal side effects. It’s best to take alternate days, rather than every day. I can’t remember the explanation why but if you Google it will explain why levels rise quicker taking iron this way.

Oh and vitamin D is fat solvable so levels improve quicker if you take it with a fat source (full fat Greek yogurt , a spoon of peanut butter, some nuts or whatever.

@MentallyDatingDaveGrohl that's good advice thank you, I'll get the vitamin D supplements and some iron supplements and see if I can make improvements myself over the next few weeks/months

You need 5mcg folic acid from your gp. Your results are very similar to mine a few months ago. I had to convince the gp to give me a 3 month supply but I felt so much better after it!

@OdeToBarney thank you, I bought some supplements yesterday. Vitamin D, Iron, Folic Acid and Magneisum, I'm hoping within a few weeks I'll notice a difference in how I feel
