Thyroid issue?

Hi, my dd (28) has a number of symptoms that make her think she might have hypothyroidism. Does this blood test show she is very unlikely to have this? Grateful for advice!

she does not have hypothyroidism - it would be above 4 if she did.
What symptoms does she have?

MerryInthechelseahotel · 31/03/2025 20:40

She is tired all the time, anxious/depressed which is not like her. She feels her face is puffy. Slow moving thoughts and mood swings. She’s a good few hundred miles away so I can’t help her really. I’m going to try and see her soon. She’s happily married but not happy swim

may be worth checking her iron and vitamin D levels.

As PP said, Hypothyroid is where the tsh is high not low. That tsh is really good, so need to check other areas for her symptoms. How is her diet?

MerryInthechelseahotel · 02/04/2025 11:59

She has a very healthy diet. She eats a lot of fish and eggs and spinach but also a balance of other good stuff. It might be anaemia but not because of diet. She doesn't drink alcohol. It seems she might be borderline for anaemia, doesn't it?

No that’s a normal result. She is not have hypothyroidism.

AlteredStater · 02/04/2025 12:10

She may have hypothyroidism even though her TSH is 'normal', it does happen. What she needs to test is a full thyroid panel, so FT4 and FT3 as well as thyroid antibodies TPO and TG. This will either definitely show there's something amiss or will rule out any problem there. I've seen people's results who have a normal TSH but are very hypothyroid so it's worth investigating further but you're unlikely to get that done on the NHS, try a finger prick blood test kit that you can buy online, I recommend Medichecks but there are other companies.

Also her low haematocrit indicates anaemia - not enough red blood cells to carry oxygen.

Thanks @AlteredStater and everyone that’s really helpful.
