Calpol/Temperature Help!

DD had her immunisations today, I feel like she is a bit hotter than should be - took temp with digi therm under her arm - 37. Nurse said if it hits 37.5 then give Calpol and I can't remember whether you add 0.5 for an oral reading or an under the arm one?

Would you give calpol anyway? Please advise

An oral reading (in the mouth) should be fine, you don't have to add anything. Pop your hand on her tummy. Is is hot?

It was an under the arm reading. She is warm, but that could be the weather as much as anything!

If I gave her Calpol before bed as a "just in case" it won't do her any harm will it?

I'd give it tbh for your peace of mind as much as anything else.

37 is normal body temp. I give Calpol for 38.5 and over.

Ok - I'll keep checking and see how she gets on. If I worry too much I will give her some!

Her temp went up and I gave her some, we both slept well as a result - thanks for your advice!

sorry so late - this is my first post.
The use of Calpol will not stop convulsions (states NICE)and may even make them more likely as the body needs to be able to be left alone to deal naturally with fever.
There is evidence to link the use of paracetamol after the MMR WITH AUTISM - Merasles is a live virus - the body needs to raise a temp with MEASLES TO KILL THE VIRUS.

Febrile convulsions are not always linked to high temperatures. Often it it when the body is not coping with a virus or condition and needs to shut down for a while.
p.s.Also I think that Febrile convulsions are more likely in vaccinated children.
