Muscles twitching all over after a stressful event

I had a very stressful day this week because my daughter had a severe allergic reaction at school

Once we were safely home from the hospital (late in the evening) I finally got into bed (she came in my bed as she wanted to be nearby) andy muscles started twitching all over, it was horribly uncomfortable/unpleasant.

I've never experienced it before and this is by no means I have had an ambulance ride with a child as both have allergies and asthma.

I'm just curious if it is a type of stress response?

(Nb I do have a neuromuscular condition called Myasthenia but I am not aware it causes these twitches. I take pyridostigmine which is a nerve stimulant but I only had a very normal amount for me (quite low) that day. I had also used my wheelchair so my body didn't get overtired )

Muscle twitching is a known anxiety symptom.

During my worst ever spell with anxiety and insomnia I had almost constant hypnic jerks (those are the things that wake you up from sleep with a jolt) so your body can do very weird things for sure!

As a quick first aid measure I found clasping a thick newish pillow helpful - doesn't get rid of them but has a muffling effect.

Can you take some magnesium? Do you have epsom salts in the house you can take a soak in?

Stress can increase magnesium loss, and magnesium deficiency can increase susceptibility to stress, creating a "vicious circle.

Magnesium deficiency can cause muscle spasms.

Sadly I definitely can't take magnesium as it's contraindicated for Myasthenia. But thank you, I imagine for most people it's a huge help

The twitching only lasted about half an hour but it was horrible

That's a good idea. And/ Or maybe I could try DH weighted blanket if it happens again?
