Hi, I've been generally unwell for a couple of months now, I have my suspicions it might be hyperthyroidism but I don't quite have ALL of the symptoms. Would appreciate other people's experiences. I have a GP appointment booked.
I've had/ am having: pounding heart intermittently (not fast though), disturbed sleep, sudden weight loss, exhaustion but sometimes lots of nervous energy, loose bowels, nausea- sometimes retching. I get hot incredibly quickly and sweat lots (but not like typical sweating- mostly from my face).
Does any of this sound familiar? TIA x

Under active thyroid - caught by a doctor when I was aged 10 in hospital for grumbling appendix. The good old days when doctors saw other things happening in a person.
Rebel years as a teen I would frequently not take pills and remember a doctor shouting at me in my 20’s that my periods would be affected.
But it is a battle two decades on to get the GP to listen at a time in life when I thought it would actually would be far better considered.

Periods doing what they like when they like, period bleeding that has to be stopped by other medication, constipation, unable to sleep, loss of hair, coldness, white fingertips to the point of painful. Dry patches of skin. Mood swings to low mood.

The last time the thyroid was out of kilter it took pre-op bloods for a gynaecological procedure that was a s!!t show to get anyone at the doctors surgery remotely embarrassed.

good luck with getting a doctor of todays calibre to listen.

I have no idea when mine started but I couldn't stand for long periods of time as I would pass out, very impulsive, highly anxious and reactive - triggered to anger quite easily especially if made late because I had so much planned to the dot, constantly on the go and not getting any down time, finding it hard to sleep, racing thoughts, panic attacks, heart rate going over 130 more than 4 times a day even when sitting, losing 2Ib a week at the end (when they finally did bloods and admitted it wasn't "just anxiety"). My neck was also very stiff and my tongue is still swollen to the point I bite it on the sides when I close my jaw nearly 14 months later but Dr has said this is a dental issue now and suggested I pay for a sleep guard...🙄

I had graves diagnosed in Dec, i think i have been suffering for a long time though. I had the shakes, high heartbeat, very painful legs and was losing weight. On meds very quickly and having blood tests every 2 weeks. This is the first week I have realised that i do feel better. All symptoms are better. It does take time. Yet to see the encrinologist but that could be ages but GP has been very good.

I have Hyperthyroidism (Graves), I had it for years before anything was done about it, I only got help when it caused Atrial fibrillation and I had another blood test.
Now I understand the TSH T3 T4 readings I can see from my Nhs records that I e had it for over 10 years.
My main symptom was feeling hot and face perspiring, when everyone else was fine.
I joked for years that my air conditioning was broken…. and it was.
I’m on Carbimazole 5mg, very low dose and under the care of Nhs Endocrinologist, the department is brilliant and now my atrial fibrillation has gone and I feel great.
Just have to take one little tablet every day.

I had hyperthyroid along with Graves. My resting heart rate was circa 100bpm, I lost weight, although I was dieting which may have triggered the whole thing anyway, and I had the shakes something rotten - to the point I could barely write as the pen was shaking so much.

I actually felt fine other than the physical manifestations.
