You should see your GP about this. It's probably nothing to worry about but it should be checked.

Could be a number of things, I couldn't say for certain. I think it's always important to get things checked out. It does sound like epilepsy though but I may be wrong. Get it checked though.

I agree that you should see your GP about this. It may be nothing, but if it's a type of seizure you need to have it checked out. See if you can take a video of your ds going to sleep, on a cameraphone or digital camera. It may feel funny videoing him but will really help the GP to decide whether to refer him or not.

Could it not just be REM? That is very normal just before you drop off and i myself twitch sometimes when im drifting off and dh does it all the time. Agree if your concerned go the doc.

Sorry to worry you. You should always get things like this checked though. I hope it goes well.

mummypig · 13/05/2008 21:36

Glad that the doctors are taking it seriously and you have an appointment, hope it is useful.

pointydog · 13/05/2008 21:46

If the medical people do want to go down the checking for seizures route, can I just say that it would be very useful for you to take some film of one of these incidents as it is unlikely anyone medical will have the chance to see what your son does. (We are going through something fairly similar at the moment.)

ah - as pig has said

My DS1 is also 3 and he blinks then rolls his eyes as he drifts off, its very odd to see him doing it but have got used to it now. He also sleep walks and talks in his sleep - my feeling is these odd habits are quite normal, and lots of folk grunt and twitch when they sleep, my DH does!

avenanap · 14/05/2008 10:43

It depends what twitching means though. Our interpretation of what may be happening may not be the same as the op's, which is why it should be checked. I hope all goes well. A camera is a very good idea.
