Should I declare thrush?

Not sure which category this is - sex, relationships or health...!

I am getting over a dose of the thrush. It came on on Sunday, I took a pessary but then started a heavy period. Wednesday I took fluconazole and it has been gradually clearing up. My main symptom now is a sore tongue! (which I assume is connected?)

I am seeing a new man tomorrow night and we have planned to have sex. I am ridiculously excited.

But am in a dilemma - should I tell him about the thrush? Will it still be "live" and can I pass it onto him (Internet seems mixed about this?)

In other circs I would take a rain check but I only get a Sat night free once in a blue moon so would like to go ahead if I can.

Any guidance grateful received!

While the prospect of sex with this man is cheering you up, imagine how you’d feel if he’d just had thrush and had sex with you and didn’t tell you?
I know it’s not officially an STI but it is unpleasant, and I have passed it on to a long term partner before.
It is your choice, but if you are going ahead, use protecton and have the decency to tell him as well.

What a turn off it would be to be told about your thrush but if you’re not cleared you should cancel.

Thanks for the advice ladies. You are of course right, we talked about it and it all worked out.

For all future readers I found this article about transmission of thrush very helpful:
