Dry Socket questions

So I have dry socket. I got my original extraction last Tuesday and then this past Monday I got my dry socket filled in with some kind of paste. It’s been 4 days and I’m noticing the paste is dissolving and now like slimy almost, is this normal? If it is when can I have a Diet Pepsi? Lol thank you!

Yes it's normal. Sometimes bits of it will come out. If still in pain then go back to dentist and get more of it put in the socket. When I had a dry socket I had to go back twice. Have you been doing water rinses? It's fine to have a pepsi x

I was told to avoid cola because it dissolves the filler. Also anything acidic.

i didn’t need to go back. I got dry socket again back in January following another extraction but this time I opted to just take large quantities of pain killers because I was too busy to go to the dentist

They advised me not to do any rinses this time around. I’m not in any pain it’s just a strange feeling in my mouth lol I am so happy to hear this 😭

Do you remember for how long you were told to avoid this?

Yes I had this too with gritty bits coming out and turning a bit slimy in my mouth. However it healed well and pretty quickly from what I can remember. I was in more pain from the dry socket than I was with the broken tooth though!
