Non-blanching rash - no idea what to do now

About a week ago, I started getting a rash, which continues to spread. It is non blanching (it doesn't disappear/go white when pressed.) I also am very dizzy, extremely tired and feel sick, though this only started a 5 days ago. My husband is currently buying a thermometer (ours has broken), as I feel extremely hot as of this morning.

My GP was concerned, did some blood work, where nothing came back too obvious - but a lot on the border/just below/just above 'normal.' They sent me, with a referral letter to A&E, saying I need same day specialist tests and to see specialists (e.g. a Derm and hematologist etc), as they think it could be something like Vasculitis or something more.

The hospital triaged me around 5 times, and then said that they need me to see a hospital GP before I could have any tests, who I saw after 7 hours. They said that yes, I need specialist tests and consultations, but as everyone has gone home, I need to call my GP tomorrow and arrange a referral (they had the GP's letter already and I pointed this out.)

My GP is now saying I have been referred already, whilst the hospital has washed their hands of it essentially.

Any idea what I can do to get someone to help? The symptoms continue to get worse.

I am happy to go private, but that wouldn't be soon (last time I used my Bupa, it was an 8 week wait time for an appointment!)

Had anyone tested for meningitis? I would just present back at a&e given your symptoms.

Nets888 · 14/03/2025 18:09

Where is your rash? All over or just the legs?

Ahsheeit · 14/03/2025 18:26

Use the virtual GP on the Bupa app to get another referral. Daft that you have to, but may circumvent a bit of back and forth.

suggest go to a larger A&E who have 24h staff. What is your temperature? Any other symptoms?

It is all over, but particularly bad on my legs. The spots do look a little different too.

I rang them earlier, and they managed to get me in with a Derm on Tuesday morning! They took the A&E letter the GP wrote, as the doctor had just had a cancellation.

@Choconuttolata @Lola1357 I was going to say HSP too as rash usually appears on legs. Have you recently been unwell, especially a sore throat?

Lola1357 · 15/03/2025 10:51

So, HSP is one of the things my GP thinks it could be, but due to long term symptoms (not the rash), they are worried it could be something chronic. The only thing is, I haven't been ill until after this rash started, which is why HSP is confusing.

Bizarrely, despite feeling overly hot, my temperature is low (35.5.)

I appreciate you all for responding, I was stressed yesterday!

Did they test your thyroid function?
