Which one contains less caffeine? I am trying to improve my sleep. Thank you.

I take chamomile tea now and then, and a magnesium glycinate capsule at night. Works like magic for me. Even if I don't bother with the chamomile tea, the glycinate works very well.

I don't know which of your options has less caffeine though, so someone else might know.

How much cocoa would you be using?

By the way, Horlicks is what I turn to for a good night's sleep.

TheCryingTheBitchAndTheFloordrobe · 12/03/2025 17:33

I drink decaf normal tea after dinner, if you like regular tea? The Yorkshire decaf is good. I'd steer clear of both green tea and proper cocoa if you're having sleep issues

mathanxiety · 12/03/2025 17:37

Why drink either if you have sleep problems.

ErrolTheDragon · 12/03/2025 17:41

It probably depends a lot how much caffeine there was in the green tea to start with (I believe it can be very variable) and then exactly how it was decaffeinated.
probably better to have something inherently caffeine free if you’re very sensitive to it like camomile or mint.

WarriorN · 12/03/2025 17:47

Ooh tricky question

I'm aiming to not have caffeine after 11 am at the moment

I'd have cocoa at bedtime tho. I'm not sure it has much

bloodredfeaturewall · 12/03/2025 17:58

milk contains natural melatonin

MassiveOvaryaction · 12/03/2025 18:32

I like a Teapigs Snooze (camomile & lavender) or Calm (valerian).

In answer to your question though the decaf green tea should have less caffeine than the cocoa.

Green tea makes me hyper regardless of the caffeine content. I drink it in the morning for energy! If I drink too much it gives me full on heart palpitations 🤷‍♀️.

HaddyAbrams · 12/03/2025 20:07

Google thinks decaff green tea is better. Personally I hate the taste so would have cocoa anyway. But caffeine doesn't keep me awake.

Why steer clear of green tea if someone is having problems sleeping.

Because it has caffeine in it.

You're best to have something completely herbal so it's naturally caffeine free.

lljkk · 12/03/2025 20:21

Am pretty sure the cocoa will have more caffeine.

How late in day would you consume the cocoa or another caffeinated beverage?

WarriorN · 12/03/2025 20:46

Rooibos and milk is my favourite bedtime drink

LauraFaye88 · 13/03/2025 07:44

I have two and a half cups of tea. The last one is at 9-30 am. Will try herbal teas.
I appreciate all replies. Thank you.
