I don't want to show anyone my bum (definitely TMI contained within)

Please don't just tell me to see my GP, and do the face at me.

Recently gave birth. 2nd degree tear. Stitches. Was healing okay. Quite sore today (probably because of a slightly strenuous poo) and I got the mirror to have a look.

Well. I either have a hemorrhoid half way down my stitches, or my stitches have opened a tiny bit. There's a little bit poking out where there should be no bit.

Anyone have a similar experience?

Prep H soothes it a bit. Can I leave it and see if it fixes itself?

I so so so so don't want to have to show someone my bum.

Had to show my bum when had anal fissure - took 30 minutes of coaxing to get my pants down - dr kept telling me roughly how many bums he had seen.

It was the knees to chest that made me feel a bit yucky!

Glad I had it looked at though as he sorted it and I felt so much better!

They gove you cream that you rub on your bum but have to be careful not to use too much or it gives you a headache!!

Go figure!

coud you ask midwife or HV to have a look

I asked good HV several times to look at my 3rd degree after it was "suppoesed" to have healed as it bothered me a lot.

All was fine!

I had exactly this, Don't bathe in anything except maybe a bit of salt in the bath, I went to A and E and they prescribed me antibiotics which they promised wouldn't affect BF baby, so I took them, Baby was very unsettled for two weeks, and subsequently I read that these antibiotics were totally unsuitable, and the infection would have cleared up without them. BUt yes, go and get it looked at, Show Your BUM.

My piles took at least ten weeks to go, start using the creams after your stitiches have healed

Cosima - was it stitches opening?

HMMMM

If you are still under midwife care, could you show her?

To be honest, if it isn't painful and there isn't a HOLE, you are probably ok - you might just have a little skin tag type thing afterwards. Do you think this is a possible outcome?

Still up a picture on your profile (just kidding)

After a 2nd degree tear which had been badly repaired I had something which sounds similar to you - granulation tissue which needed to be burnt off with silver nitrate

Took me over a year to get mine sorted out (not for want of trying) and I felt so much better when it was fixed....don't put up with it being 'wrong' just because it's embarrassing showing a doctor, they really do see them all the time

sarahsixtoes · 12/05/2008 22:42

have you had stitches out yet? I felt so much more comfortable when I'd had stitches out. Also try cooling area if its swollen. I remember being in so much pain going to the toilet for a poo but it was definitely haemorroids which went after a couple of weeks. May be TMI but i literally had to hold my undercarriage when I went for a poo innitially as it was so painful! Gosh that was a miserable time! You'll get there hun!

It might be piles - until my dd was about 2, I always seemed to get a bit sticking out and I got used to it until I managed to give it a good ole shove one day. Sounds disgusting but you have to push upwards until you literally can't anymore and the end is unkinked inside you. iyswim.

If you do have piles, just use the pessary and try to avoid the creams as in my experience, the creams just oil the pile up nicely enough to pop out again - usuually as you clean up and flush the chain .

I would advise going to the drs though - they really have seen it all before.

Is there a female GP?

If not, I'd ask to see a midwife or practice nurse.
