Effect of weight loss on hormones/PMT

Apologies if this is in the wrong section.

Has anyone lost a significant amount of weight and found it's really affected them hormonally?

I have taken yo yo dieting to the extreme over the years. I lost over 10 stone, put it all back on (and more on top) and am now in the process of losing it again.

First time round I had a nexplanon implant (was on like the third one so not new). During my weight loss everything went haywire and I bled constantly for almost 6 months. Lots of investigations (I was mid 20s at the time) and the only answer they could come up with was to do with my significant weight loss, everything else was ruled out. The implant was removed and I had a mirena coil fitted, problem solved.

Since then I've had a pregnancy, a new nexplanon implant which never settled, so that came out and I had a new mirena coil (in situ for about 3 years now). Only ever get a random light bleed maybe once every 6 months.

This time round I'm 5 stone down, over about 5 months of consistent weekly losses and as my username suggests, the hormones are raging. I have never felt like this. I am, for the first time in my life, over the last 3 or so months, experiencing PMT which is knocking me for six for about a week in every 4. It's like clockwork, every 28 days and I just feel totally wiped out by it. I am so emotional I am crying at the smallest thing, feeling anxious, low in mood, short tempered - all very out of character stuff and I really don't like it. After 5-7 days I'm back to my normal self again.

Has anyone else experienced a big hormonal... I don't know - shift? Sensitivity? As a result of significant and sustained weight loss? Its probably worth clarifying that I am mid 30s, absolutely not pregnant, clean bill of health, not using any weight loss drugs or anything so can't think of any other reason why this has suddenly started, but I really don't like it and dont know what to do about it 😣

I've also lost a lot of weight OP, and so have had cause to look into this. Adipose (fatty) tissue impacts the endocrine system as it produces oestrogen. When you remove it, you also decrease that hormone, which in turn affects serotonin production and leads to mood changes. My mood has been flatter, however this is probably also a result of perimenopause as I'm older than you. I've found an article which explains the effect of weight loss in circulating oestrogen in better detail:
