DD 2.5. Permanent teeth coming in?

DD has 20 teeth so I thought that was her full set in. However, brushing them tonight I noticed that she has another molar starting to come through on her bottom jaw. I counted her teeth to check and she definitely has 20 there + new molar. Does anyone know if this is an adult tooth coming through very early? I thought we were finally done with teething!

some people have extra teeth, so it might be that, but I would get her to the dentist to get it checked out as it might cause future problems if it's not meant to be there iyswim.

Have a look on Google, type in Milk teeth. I have just looked briefly, sorry I haven't learn't yet how to do links!! Think they describe about how many teeth etc and talk about 2nd molars etc. HTH

I was just thinking the other day that we must be overdue a dentist appointment. Will give them a call tomorrow. I had about 10 teeth removed and years of braces and headgear when I was younger. I really don't want DD to go through all of that so will take her asap.Thanks lackaDAISYcal

teeth are really funny things. My mum had a new one pop out when she had been toothless with flasies for 30 years, and a friend of mine didn't get any of her adult teeth at all.

maybe extra teeth runs in your family.

Don't think we have any extra teeth in our family. Just weird ones! Some funy shaped ones and my brother ended up with a double row. Some of his permanent teeth came through before he had lost his baby teeth.

Did your friend lose her baby teeth then or did they not fall out?

Chewlips - thanks for the tip to google milk teeth. I had been searching under baby teeth but putting in milk teeth brought up some different (more useful!) sites.
