Dental implant experiences

Hi there, I've had a tooth extraction and been going through the implant process. I've had the implant placement and now just waiting for final stage where the tooth will be fitted. I wasn't thinking this last part would be too traumatic but my mum has freaked me out today saying her friend found this last stage the most painful and was badly bruised/swollen. Has anyone experienced and can tell me what to expect? I just don't want to go in unprepared! X

I have had an implant for over 10 years. I didn't find any of it particularly painful. I think my gums were a bit swollen afterwards but nothing terrible and it didn't last long.
It was expensive but I have never regretted it.
If your dental surgeon is skilled you will be fine.

I have one and was dreading it but it was honestly fine! The last bit was the easiest (the Putting the screw in was also fine but the thought of it freaked me out a little). Felt a little weird and sort of tight for a few hours and that was it.

Nah, absolutely fine.

Nope - worst bit was getting the post put in
Which you've done

They stick it in
Lots of checks to make sure it lines up correctly and you have a clean "bite"

Then they go through cleaning it - food can get trapped above it - welcome to weird floss!

I've been through this process and for me, the worst part of it was the extraction - which I was absolutely dreading, but in fact turned out to be fine and nowhere near what I'd expected.
In the final fitting of the implant, there is a bit of pressure applied, which I found uncomfortable, but not to the extent of being painful.
I'd had a lot of orthodontic treatment and extractions as a child, and had developed a bit of a fear of dentists as a result. So when I needed an implant, I was absolutely dreading it. But it was honestly fine.

No the surgery is the "worst"
Did you have sedation

The other bits are a walk in the park.

Although for me the extraction was by far the worst bit as have a few complications.

I had mine a couple of months ago. It's really no big deal at all. I went for lunch with friends immediately afterwards.

Thanks so much everyone for your replies I feel much better hearing that! So grateful to you all honestly x
@fatgirlswims I didn't have sedation for the surgery and managed ok. The thought was worse than the reality!

You will be fine then! My dentists insists on sedation for the surgery (unless you have specific aversion to it he is the most chill dentist ever)
