Before it’s said I have a doctors appt booked for this week just looking for opinions / advice / handhold. This is right under my tummy - near my bikini line. So an area I don’t see much lol since having my second baby. I’m quite vigilant with my skin since having a basal cell a couple of years back but I’m not quite sure how long it’s there definitely a couple of weeks. Saw one out of hours doc who didn’t have a dermoscope but used to be a dermatologist and wasn’t too worried but gave me cream to try for two weeks first.
im afraid of amelanotic melanoma. I’ll attach pics. If anyone has had anything similar looking I’d love to hear. TIA
xx

My DH had melanoma and it looked nothing like that. His was black and a strange shape and began bleeding.

i am NOT a dermatologist or doctor and they will be able to biopsy it for you.

Just wanted to share our experience. .

On a positive note Melanoma can now be treated which was not the case 10-15 years ago.

My DH had 18 months of immunotherapy and is doing brilliantly. He had nodular melanoma - the worst type of melanoma - and stage 3 as it was in his lymph nodes. He had had no evidence of disease for 3 years now. It took 3 operations to remove but we are grateful for such a positive outcome.

Good luck and I hope you soon get reassurance from a doctor.

Halloumiheaven · 01/03/2025 23:26

Can I just ask what made you think that was a melanoma....? I'm not seeing anything that obviously resembles it....

Joystir59 · 01/03/2025 23:28

I can't see anything

skippydawg · 01/03/2025 23:29

It's just a blemish, do you have health anxiety?

MyrtleLion · 01/03/2025 23:33

Don't worry about it. My DH had a prominent dark brown mole that everyone was concerned about (me, him and the GP). He was referred on the cancer pathway and the dermatologist took one look at it, sighed, said definitely not cancer, not even close but I'll freeze it off for you while you're here.

Your blemish is insignificant in comparison. I promise you it's nothing to be worried about.

joshingaround · 01/03/2025 23:59

You have a blemish. Otherwise known as a mark. Or a spot.

Healthanxiety95 · 02/03/2025 07:46

I’m worried about amelanotic melanoma so basically the type that doesn’t produce any pigment. I’ll post a photo for example. Thanks so much for your responses so far x

Are they usually small & flat?

You need to send a photo to your GP not on MN. They are the only one to say if there's cause for concern and maybe refer you to the dermatology dept at your local hospital.

Yes. And flaky. Look it up.

Cynic17 · 02/03/2025 08:52

There's nothing there, OP! I'm covered in full on moles - have been for years - and I wouldn't have noticed anything here. I certainly wouldn't be making a GP appointment.

WonderingWanda · 02/03/2025 09:00

Looks more like a little dry patch caused by something fungal or eczema to me. Have you tried hydrocortisone or canisten on it first?

Halloumiheaven · 02/03/2025 09:13

You do need help with your anxiety. To feel a barely visible dry patch on your skin is melanoma as a first thought is somewhat irrational.

Have you tried any anti depressants? They work well for anxiety too.

No never but I’m going to say it to my doctor this week, I made this appt back in Jan for different reasons and in my surgery we have to wait 8 weeks to see our GP now. It’s crazy. I know more than anyone I need help with my anxiety. Does anyone have any experience or anti depressants here?

Healthanxiety95 · 02/03/2025 09:16

@WonderingWanda i just started yesterday with some canesten to see would it make any differences before my appt x

OP posts:
Healthanxiety95 · 02/03/2025 09:19

Would a small dry patch last a couple of weeks though? I’ve not put anything on it before yesterday

OP posts:
WonderingWanda · 02/03/2025 09:21

@Healthanxiety95 Yes if nothing is being done to treat it. I'd always try some hydrocortisone first for a few days, if that didn't work I'd try canisten.
