Tip toe walking and constant blinking - autism?

My older DS used to tip toe walk (still does on cold surfaces) and for four years he has had a blinking / eye rolling tick, he is obsessed with video games and would spend hours playing. On the other hand, my youngest daughter has always been a tip toe walker, and still is at the age of 10, but has started to blink constantly for the last few days, she also has strong interests that she fixates on for months (being a therian was on obsession).

Are these signs of autism? It is really strange that two out of my five children are showing these common traits.

Does anyone have any experience?

Also, I was talking to my DH and the question is - if both children are on the autistic spectrum but are not suffering in school (both are bright) is there a benefit to getting assessed?

Thanks for your help.

I don't know about the blinking but the other things are signs of autism.

Speaking as a mature adult who has only just had an autism assessment, I would urge you to get your DCs assessed as soon as possible. I did well at school - but it would have helped so much if I had had some
Help in certain areas. I was useless at English Lit due to the fact that I can't read between the lines. I also struggled with structuring essays, which I think was down to my autism. I was fantastic at maths and foreign languages though.

Have you seen anyone about the blinking/eye rolling?

My children are all very good at maths, it is one of the great traits that we have. However, I never thought about reading between the lines in literature. It is something to think about.

My son can also sound a little rude sometimes, missing day to day pleasantries such as ‘good morning’ when spoken to, and struggles to be sociable with family - but this might just be a teenage thing!

My son saw the opticians twice, and the GP. The doctor said it was a nervous tick and it may go away on its own, but he still has it after 4/5 years.

I would say being blunt is also a possible autistic trait. It’s because we tend to say things as they are and don’t see the point of small talk.

her daughter is just maybe feeling more comfortable tip toeing, for being a Therian it is an identity not an obsession. the blinking I have no idea about but mostlikely that your daughter is not autistic

What makes you qualified to state this @Sabbby ?
