Petechiae?? But normal bloods?

Female (29). Recently been put on mirena coil ( well a couple of months back now ) and I seem to have come out in teeny tiny red dots scattered sparsely basically all over particularly my boobs. I went to A&E yesterday as I worry a lot and they did bloods and all levels are absolutely normal and didn’t really have an explanation. They aren’t absolutely covering me but more spread out and you wouldn’t notice unless you looked up proper close.
I have health anxiety and I’m wondering has anyone had similar? Ofc my mind runs to leukemia! Albeit I’m well in myself otherwise. Any words of advice would help xx

I get these all the time and anything tight will give me lines of them, have done for years. Nothing wrong with me at all

Healthanxiety95 · 28/02/2025 15:32

Thanks very much for your reply! The rational person in me says relax you’ve gotten bloods done. But the health anxiety obviously brings me to the worst places. Maybe I’ve always had them and never noticed, the are absolutely tiny!! Are yours like dots too?

Why did you not speak to a GP? They could have done blood tests and referred where necessary. No one here is going to be able to tell you the cause if medical professions who have seen them can’t.
Your bloods were fine, I’ve know labs phone our surgery within 4 hours because a FBC indicated leukaemia, so it would have been picked up if you had it. Please get some help for your health anxiety, it must be miserable having to cope with it Flowers

Google ‘Campbell de Morgan spots.’ Could it be those? I have gradually developed lots over the years. Completely harmless.

Regards to Gp, I live in Ireland and right now my GP I’ve had for almost 30 years now takes 6-8 weeks for any appt!! It’s terrible, so I’m trying to switch but with my anxiety couldn’t wait that long! So went to a&e and no one was worried and bloods were fine so I need to try to keep telling myself that. Maybe they were always there I’m not even sure! Thanks so much for your reply - I am waiting a GPs appt ( although weeks away lol ) and I’m going to try get treatment for my HA. It’s horrible and I’ve two little babies also which have made it worse for me with more worry! Xx

Most of mine are tiny, quite bright red pinpricks. Some are slightly raised above the skin. Looking online myself they show pictures of really dramatic ones.

Bobbie12345 · 28/02/2025 16:16

It is really hard to get a selfie of them. Her are some of my medium sized ones.

Healthanxiety95 · 28/02/2025 17:18

@Bobbie12345 mine are mostly the same pinpricks most bright red some a little darker but all much the same size. Some even look like teeny cherry angioma. Does yours blanch?

I am absolutely covered in these. I noticed them about 10 years ago, but they could have been around for longer. I was about 30 when I spotted them. I got a blood test at the time, didn't flag anything untowards. I still have them and I'm pretty sure I'd have realized by now if I had leukemia 😄

A bit but not completely.

@Rosecat22 thanks very much! It’s always nice to hear similar when you’re worrying 🙈 had my bloods done in around Nov for other reasons & then yesterday and both were perfect. Are yours tiny and spaced out as well?

Health anxiety is just awful isn't it. I completely understand you going to a&e.

Leukaemia causes petechiae by causing very low platelets (thrombocytopenia) which as far as I am aware would have reflected in your bloods ❤️

Rosecat22 · 28/02/2025 21:22

Yep OP mine are pinprick size and upwards and scattered everywhere. If you had Leukemia it would show up in the blood tests

BobBobBobbing · 28/02/2025 21:40

I have hundreds upon hundreds of these. When I first noticed them the GP did a high priority blood test. All came back fine and that was more than 10 years ago and I've not dropped dead yet. I've got hypermobility(and probs EDS) and think it is just delicate blood vessels. I have the campbell de morgan spots (some v big) but the majority are just teeny tiny non blanching spots. Legs, arms, chest, stomach they are everywhere. That pic up thread I'd probably have 50+ in the same space. Neither my GP or my rheumatologist are in the slightest bit worried about them.

Healthanxiety95 · 01/03/2025 07:26

thanks so much everyone! Health anxiety is just debilitating at times and honestly although the rational side is deep down somewhere, it’s very hard to tell yourself to believe it rather than the worst. And hearing similar stories really does make me feel so much better. Xx
