Constantly feel exhausted

Hi just looking to see if anyone has any ideas what could be wrong with me..

● I would say this has being going on for at least 6 months or so.. I constantly feel exhausted, if I sleep for 8,9, 10 hours etc I wake up and still feel so tired & can't last past 2pm without needing a nap. I could nap for 2-3 hrs in the day and still go to sleep as normal. I'm finding it really hard to do anything (household tasks, minor cleaning etc).
●My head feels 'frazzled' like very forgetful, bit all over the place
●My body aches, stiff legs, sore back & neck.
● I am getting headaches several times a week
● I have been having dizzy spells.

Don't have alot of stress ATM other than the usual stuff. In a pretty easy job but finding that exhausting.

Anyone ever had similar? I'm going to hopefully phone the GP next week but thought I'd try here first

Thanks ❤️

Could be a vitamin deficiency maybe?

tallcurvey · 20/02/2025 21:00

@Mawface

its vitamin d.
you don’t have enough
start talking loads
in four weeks you will feel great

Annoyingsquirrels · 20/02/2025 21:00

Low iron?

QueMaTeteFleurisse · 20/02/2025 21:03

Have you got a carbon monoxide detector? Tiredness can be from a dodgy boiler. Just saying in case it helps anyone

RIPVPROG · 20/02/2025 21:11

I was like that last year, I was severely deficient in b12, iron and folate. The b12 was an easier fix, a few injections and a supplement regime got me back to normal levels, the iron and folate is a slower process but improving.
Do you get pins and needles? Mouth ulcers? Eye twitch? Is your hair thinner/more brittle? I had most of the above barring ulcers but they were all things my GP asked about, she said I think it likely you're anaemic and lacking B12 and the blood tests confirmed it.

Yes to all but the ulcers. I did have anemia in all 3 pregnancies so that might be something to look into & ill maybe look into taking vitamins. Will defo be phoning the GP soon & can hopefully get some bloods done.

Ask for blood tests for vitamin D and B12 plus full blood count. Stress the neurological symptoms.

cloudjumper · 20/02/2025 21:22

I had all these symptoms when I was severely anaemic. Def ask for a blood test.

hotchocfiend · 20/02/2025 21:25

Sounds like low iron. Ferrous fumarate tablets have been a life saver for me.

CoolPlayer · 20/02/2025 21:26

Ask them to check ur thyroid it’s done with a simple blood test x

Tooearlytothink · 20/02/2025 21:33

For me all of this was low ferritin. Be careful though of GP over prescribing iron tablets if this is the case. Guidelines have changed in the last few years but so many GPs are still prescribing way more frequent doses than your body can absorb (in turn this actually reduces absorption). I was caught out by this until a newly qualified GP with recent time in haematology corrected it. Taking too many caused awful side effects on my gut without the other symptoms improving.

Endofyear · 20/02/2025 22:07

Could definitely be anaemia. Please get yourself to the GP asap for blood tests! My DSis had this and ignored for several months (thought she had long covid!) and when bloods came back, she had a call from the out of hours GP in the evening telling her to go straight to hospital as her iron was dangerously low. She had to have iron infusion i/v and was in hospital about a week. Please don't wait, get yourself checked 💐

Cazziebo · 20/02/2025 23:01

I had this. A blood test showed very low on B12, ferritin and folate. Further tests showed coeliac disease.

butterfly0404 · 20/02/2025 23:21

Exactly my symptoms over the last few years, found out recently its B12 deficiency and Vit D although that isn't so bad.
I'm currently on 6 loading doses of B12 Injections and awaiting ongoing testing to find the cause as it isn't necessarily diet related.
Ask your GP for a full blood count, iron panel and B12 deficiency test and go from there x

Ooh. Good call, and worth considering.

Whimsicalgrape · 20/02/2025 23:29

I had this at 33 too. It was a lack of vit D for me. Blood test should get to the bottom of it.

GG1986 · 21/02/2025 10:11

Definitely get thyroid checked and also vitamin levels. I felt crap when my vit d was low and also low iron.

This is v similar me right now, can I ask what the test was called / how you went about getting it?

Despite having prescribed B12 injections every 8 weeks and being on a 5mg daily folate prescription my levels are still low, so is ferritin. I’m wondering if it could be a gut absorption issue, GP just fobbed me off saying it’s diet even though I’m already diagnosed with pernicious anemia
