Hmm, nothing that severe i must say but ds 6 used to and still does from time to time get strong headaches that need him to lay in a dark room-we worked out it was dehydration, spoke to the school and now he drinks alot more things have been better.

Yes,my youngest dd now 9 has suffered on and off from headaches since starting school, but not as severe as your dd.
I second the opinion that some children do need a lot more fluid and she needs to be reminded to drink, even if not thirsty.
I also think my dd dosent really get enough sleep, easy to diagnose but not so easy to solve.

Just coz they are small doesn't mean they don't get headaches. I remember having shocking, sick making headaches as a very small child I must have been only 3 or thereabouts.

My daughter has done since she was about 7. She would wake up with them/have them at school/holiday/ weekend/ whenever and would be in tears with the pain and shaking like your dd .We found nothing helped long term - calpol etc has absolutely no effect, though nurofen helped ever so slightly- so i started taking her to an osteopath.
He has done some cranial massage work on her head, and also her spine was curving which he explained was linked to the headaches as the spinal cord goes to the bottom of the head (am pants at explaining - sorry) but the results have been amazing. She walked out from the first session pretty much pain free and smiling with relief for the first time in 2 years . She has had 4 sessions with him and he is happy to leave it at that to see how things are. She has maybe 2/3 headaches a week now but could be due to our home life (DH has cancer) but she is a different child.

My dd used to suffer blinding headaches, which have now (thank goodness) dissapeared since she had an operation on her eye in January. She had a kind of squint and week muscles in her eyes and very bendy cartilage everywhere as a baby.

Your dd's sound more like migraine though. I would speak to your doctor about them.
