BC and when to tell children

Advice needed please as am struggling with this.

I received diagnosis of breast cancer last Friday and am veering between devastation, hope and denial.
It is ILC so unknown as to spread. I have MRi next week, MDT meet towards end of week to create treatment plan when they have a better idea of what they are dealing with, but surgery will be in the next 2 to 3 weeks.

I wanted advice on when to tell children.

My husband thinks we should wait until have treatment plan but my worries with this are:
There is a chance it may not be as positive as we hope.
They will not have much time to process/ talk before my surgery.

It is also half term now so they would have more time to talk to us about their concerns.
The thought of upsetting them is devastating and I wish I didn't have to, they are teens and have their own challenges but they are sadly, going to be upset whenever we tell them.
I appreciate my husbands view to not upset them until we know more but am still questioning if this is right.

I would appreciate any thoughts or advice you may have please x

I am so so sorry you are going through this.

The teens are difficult years and there is never a good time.

However, I think I would wait until there is some more news around a treatment plan and you've had just a little more time to sit with this.

These diagnoses always bring a myriad of questions that can't be answered a lot of the time - the more answers you have for their immediate questions when you do talk to them is probably better for you all to be able to handle things together xx

I'm with your husband too. Wait until you know more.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery x
