Why is my nose subtly starting to look deformed??

Basically, the bin it's in the middle of my nose (inside the nostril like in the middle if that makes sense) one side is significant larger then the other. It's starting to be very noticable and he end of my nose is starting to bend if that makes sense. I can feel that the bone is almost poking out on one side. I hope this makes sense I've tried to explain best I can. Does anyone know what this is and how I can stop it?!?!?

Are you on zoom or FaceTime etc a lot? Apparently everyone hates their faces particularly noses because we have to see ourselves in those little screen boxes all day.

It looks fine to me, normal, I assume it's not causing you pain?
The angle of your photo is not the angle most people who see you will see you, so I don't think you should be concerned about what other people might think, it's not likely anyone would notice what you do about your own face.

It does look odd from a front facing angle it was actually m partner what noticed it a couple weeks ago and said "why does your nose look weird". And h notices nothing he's so oblivious so I think that's why I'm super paranoid about it

The nose never stops growing. It’ll grow until you die. Sometimes people faces get longer too. Thats what’s called being long of tooth. People get a long horsey looking face. I know, depressing.

Edited

I thought the long in the tooth thing is down to gums receding so teeth appear longer?

Which bit of your nose are you asking about? In the drawing on this web page the bit in the middle of your nose in blue is the septum. Yours is a little deviated similar to the picture you posted of someone else's nose and you said it felt like bone.

The turbinates are soft tissue and hang from the outer edge of each nostril. As you posted an up the nose shot we can see yours but I don't think anyone in real life would see them. They can cause breathing problems but not usually distortion of the nose.

Are you asking about your septum or your turbinates?

What causes a deviated septum?
An injury, like a broken nosee_, can cause a deviated septum. Other causes include:
• Playing contact sports.
• Car accidents.
• Falls.
• Fights and other physical altercations.
Some people are born with nasal septum deviation. For example, difficult births or connective tissue diseasee_ can cause it.
A deviated septum can also be a result of normal development. As your nose grows, your septum also grows and can sometimes lean toward one side. This is the most common deviated septum cause.

Oh I don't know 😂 I'm asking about the lump I listed a pic of earlier, the one that isn't my nose but looks similar to mine. The lump in the first picture is from a website that says about enlarged turbinates. I've googled deviated septum and turbinates hytrophy and they look very similar to what I'm experiencing so I guess I'm asking which is it and how did it happen and will it go away or get worse. It hasn't always been like this and has been subtle getting bigger and bigger which is why I don't believe it could be a deviated septum.

The lump you listed a picture of is your septum. Several people have confirmed this to you. It can develop a deviation as a result of normal aging through life. Yours seems to have developed a deviation.

The NHS won't fix it unless it's affecting your breathing so, if it isn't, unless you want to pay to get it fixed privately you will need to get used to it.

Normal ageing even though I'm only 30 🫣

And then my actual nose. It just looks weird and it's getting worse!

It's a minor septum deviation.

SnickersAndRipples · 15/02/2025 01:00

I think it is more a psychological issue than a physical one in your case OP as the lump is so minor that I doubt it is noticeable to anyone else.

Yes I think I will but I feel like they'll think I'm nuts rocking up whining about a sticky out bone in my nostrils lol I can't even find a name for anything on Google either.

My nose is pulling down as well, due to a deviated septum and aging. It looks normal from the front but out of shape from the nostril view.

You can see the cartilage through the skin on the tip. To disguise it I put a streak of highlighter down my nose so the sheen and the white cartilage sort of blend together.

There are two Botox treatments you could try.

A 'lip flip' helps my nose spring back to where it should be after releasing the muscle a bit. There's also 'pixie lift' which aims to turn the tip upwards. Lower face Botox doesn't last very long but it's minimally invasive and can achieve really nice results.

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 15/02/2025 02:08

Do you side or front sleep? My nose is like yours and it's probably just how I'm built tbh but I have always slept on my side and the pillow pushes my nose slightly one way

Ickity · 15/02/2025 13:48

I have never looked up my nose but off the back of this post I’ve just taken a picture and I have the exact same OP.

Came on to say this.

But actually as someone that has wonky teeth I understand how minor imperfection to your face is aggravating.
Find out how much it costs and just get it done. Or wait 30 years until the wrinkles, bulges and crepey skin are more of an issue than the nose.

Deviated septum.
I had mine operated on at the age of 36.

Hi there,
It doesn’t seem likely that you have this from your post but for anyone else reading this who has had facial I want to mention an illness called acromegaly. It is caused by excessive growth hormone produced in the pituitary gland.
Acromegaly can cause a wide range of symptoms, which tend to develop very slowly over time.
Early symptoms include:

  • swollen hands and feet – you may notice a change in your ring or shoe size
  • tiredness and difficulty sleeping, and sometimes sleep apnea.
  • gradual changes in your facial features, such as your brow, lower jaw and nose getting larger, or your teeth becoming more widely spaced
  • numbness and weakness in your hands, caused by a compressed nerve.
  • periods becoming irregular
  • fatigue
  • aching joints
If you have these symptoms you want to see an endocrinologist and have your IGF1 levels checked. It’s probably not this. Acromegaly is a rare disease. Unfortunately that doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen. It’s worth checking if you have any concerns. The earlier it is caught the more likely it is to be curable!
